Troutman Sanders tobacco team partner Bryan Haynes was interviewed for a September 1st France 24 television report titled “US tobacco giants want lion’s share of e-cigarette business.”  The report describes the impact of e-cigarettes on the American tobacco market, and how the major tobacco companies are entering that market.

“Customers in this industry [are] notoriously brand loyal,” said Haynes, regarding the “big” tobacco companies. “There is also a level of expertise that these companies have in the tobacco industry.  Although an electronic cigarette is not a tobacco product in the conventional sense of the term, it is a tobacco product defined by the government, and so there is a level of expertise both dealing on the product composition side as well as on the regulatory side that I think could be perceived as advantageous for these companies.”
