On March 31, 2011, the Arkansas Supreme Court rejected an appeal by General Tobacco regarding its payment obligations under the MSA.  The Court affirmed a lower court decision finding that:  (1) the State justifiably removed General Tobacco from its list of approved tobacco product manufacturers and (2) General Tobacco owed $2.45 million to the State in MSA back payment obligations.  The court remanded to the trial court for additional proceedings relating to the total $297 million allegedly owed by General Tobacco to all states under the MSA.
